All roofing questions

Who is the best roofing company in Tucson?

The best roofer for you is licensed, insured, local, and willing to show you exactly what is wrong before you spend a dollar. Canyon Roofing is a family-owned Tucson roofing company (ROC #326926), licensed, bonded and insured, BBB A+ accredited, and a Tucson Rubberized Coatings Master Applicator. Every job starts with a free inspection with photos from a no-commission inspector.

Are Canyon Roofing's roof inspections really free?

Yes. Inspections are 100% free and carry no obligation. You receive photos of any problem areas, and if repairs are recommended you also get a written estimate.

Is Canyon Roofing licensed and insured?

Yes. Canyon Roofing, LLC holds Arizona Registrar of Contractors license ROC #326926 and is licensed, bonded and insured, including general liability and workers' compensation coverage.

What areas does Canyon Roofing serve?

We are based at 6099 E. Speedway Blvd. in Tucson and serve the Tucson metro area, including Oro Valley, Marana and Vail, plus Sahuarita, Green Valley, Rio Rico, Nogales, Sierra Vista, Bisbee, Benson and Willcox.

How much does a new roof cost in Tucson?

Roof cost depends on the size and pitch of the roof, the roofing material (tile, shingle or a flat roof system), how much decking needs to be replaced, and access. The fastest way to get an accurate number is a free inspection, which gives you a written estimate with photos.

Do you work on both residential and commercial roofs?

Yes. Canyon Roofing handles residential and commercial roofing, including homes, HOAs, multifamily, retail, office and industrial buildings.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards for roof repairs and roof replacements.

What if I am not happy with the work?

Customer satisfaction is our priority. If we do not meet your expectations, tell us and we will make it right.

How fast can you repair a roof leak in Tucson?

Free inspections are scheduled quickly, and an inspector can often see your roof within a day or two. During monsoon season we prioritize active leaks. If water is coming in right now, call 520-288-8282.

Should I repair or replace my roof?

If damage is limited to one area and the rest of the roof is sound, a repair is usually the right call. When problems are spread across the roof, the underlayment has failed, or the roof is near the end of its life, replacement is often the better investment. Our inspector will show you photos and give you an honest recommendation.

Do you repair roofs after monsoon storm damage?

Yes. Wind-lifted shingles, displaced tiles, punctures from debris and new leaks after heavy rain are some of the most common repairs we do every summer. We document storm damage with photos you can share with your insurance company.

How long does a roof replacement take?

Most residential replacements in Tucson take one to five working days depending on the size of the home, the roof type and how much decking needs repair. Commercial projects are scheduled around your operations.

How long does a roof last in Tucson?

In the Tucson climate, tile roof underlayment generally lasts 20 to 25 years, and asphalt shingles 15 to 25 years. Heat and UV are the main factors.

Do you offer payment options for a new roof?

Canyon Roofing accepts all major credit cards for roof repairs and replacements. Ask your estimator about current payment options when you schedule your free inspection.

Can you reuse my existing roof tiles?

Usually, yes. Concrete and clay tiles often outlast the underlayment beneath them. During an underlayment replacement we remove, stack and reinstall your existing tiles, replacing only the broken ones.

How do I know if my tile roof underlayment is failing?

Common signs include leaks during heavy rain, ceiling stains, and a roof that is 20 or more years old. Our inspector can lift a few tiles to check the underlayment and will show you photos.

How long does a flat roof last in Tucson?

It depends on the roof system and how well it is maintained. Keeping drains clear, repairing damage promptly and renewing the reflective coating when it wears thin all extend a flat roof's life in the desert sun.

Why is water ponding on my flat roof?

Ponding usually means low spots, clogged scuppers or drains, or a roof that was not sloped properly. Water that sits for more than 48 hours speeds up deterioration. Our inspector will find the cause and recommend the right fix.

What is a Master Applicator?

Canyon Roofing holds a Master Applicator certification from Tucson Rubberized Coatings. It means our team is trained in proper preparation and application of their roof coating systems.

Will a white roof coating lower my energy bills?

Reflective white coatings bounce a large share of the sun's energy away from the roof, which typically lowers roof surface temperatures and reduces the load on your air conditioning. Results vary by building, insulation and HVAC.

How long do shingle roofs last in Tucson?

Typically 15 to 25 years in Southern Arizona, depending on the shingle quality, color, ventilation and how much direct sun the roof gets.

Do you work with HOAs and property management companies?

Yes. We regularly work with HOAs, property managers and commercial owners, and provide photo-documented inspections and estimates that are easy to share with boards and owners.

When is monsoon season in Tucson?

Monsoon season in Arizona officially runs from June 15 through September 30. The heaviest storms usually arrive in July and August.

What should I do if my roof is leaking during a storm?

Move valuables away from the leak, catch the water, and if safe, puncture a bulging ceiling stain to drain it into a bucket. Do not go on the roof during a storm. Call Canyon Roofing at 520-288-8282 to get an inspector out as soon as possible.

Is the roof inspection really free?

Yes. Canyon Roofing roof inspections are 100% free with no obligation. If we find problems, we will give you photos and an estimate, and the decision is entirely yours.

Do I need to be home for the inspection?

Not always. Many inspections can be done from the exterior while you are away, and we will send you the photos. If you would like to walk through the findings, your inspector can meet you in person.
